Chatlag induced error-7's
Can anyone assist with what is an increasingly annoying problem - 'Chatlag' induced disconnections?
It's got the point where I'm (trying) not to use the chat system in map, at all - as there is a good probability that the message will not display, and the game will lag, completely, either until the message 'appears', which can take up to 'long time' (perhaps 15~20 sec), or I am disconnected with the general 'error-7'. Perhaps 80~90% of my chat works perfectly - appearing immediately, but the rest... Nightmare.
The game ordinarily plays well, I am using a 3GHz p4, 500MB ram, running XP, connecting to the net in Australia via a router and cable. (machine is in the router's DMZ). As far as I can tell it's not a networking issue - Teamspeak 2 voicecomms, for instance, continues to function perfectly throughout, and the game plays smoothly, and in the main is lag free, when not chatlagged.
Why the game would consider delivery of a text message so high a prority that it suspends other processing until it's successful eludes me, but that's a design issue. Why GW should disconnect me and throw it's err-7 simply because it can NOT deliver a text message, presumably when it reaches some timeout, also eludes me, but that's another design decision.
Short of only 'speaking' to ppl who will join our teamspeak, I am effectively muted, and it's exceedingly annoying - especially when I have to risk chatting, and disconnect (like 3 or 4 zones into PvE Tombs - as has just happened, again..)
Any help gratefully accepted.
